Proofreading for eLearning systems

Typically the final step in the editing process, proofreading refers to a review of the finished product for glaring issues in formatting and spelling, as well as other errors that crop up during the programming process.

What to expect

A proofread functions as a writer and editor's "last looks." By this point in the process, the text and its accompanying elements are finalized. The review focuses on issues that may have occurred in the process of converting the draft into its final format, including:

  • Newly introduced spelling, grammar, or punctuation errors

  • Layout issues (e.g., missing or misaligned elements, dropped characters)

  • Errors in programming (e.g., elements that cannot be clicked or otherwise used)

  • Formatting inconsistencies/errors

Once my review is complete, you will receive the edited document in Microsoft Word or Google Drive (other formats/platforms negotiable) with my changes tracked and comments that might include explanations, recommendations, queries, and, yes—praise for your hard work!

Pricing

Because of the intricacies and specialized needs of each project, pricing is not final until contracted.

Proofreading for eLearning systems and training materials starts at $50 per hour, with a minimum of one hour. Per-project rates for learning systems containing multiple parts (e.g., multiple modules or a module plus assessment or other accompanying materials) are negotiable.
