Manuscript proofreading
Typically the final step in the manuscript editing process, proofreading refers to a review of the finished product for glaring issues in formatting and spelling, as well as other errors that crop up during the typesetting process.
What to expect
A proofread functions as a writer and editor's "last looks." By this point in the process, the text and its accompanying elements are finalized. The review focuses on issues that may have occurred in the process of converting the manuscript into its final format, including:
-
Newly introduced spelling, grammar, or punctuation errors
-
Layout issues (e.g., missing or misaligned elements, dropped characters)
-
Errors in the front and back matter (including covers and spine)
-
Formatting inconsistencies/errors
Once my review is complete, you will receive the edited document in Microsoft Word or Google Drive (other formats/platforms negotiable) with my changes tracked and comments that might include explanations, recommendations, queries, and, yes—praise for your hard work!
